The Moon and Neptune will make a close approach, passing within 0°41' of each other. The Moon will be 22 days old.

From Ashburn (click to change), the pair will be visible in the dawn sky, rising at 00:53 (EDT) – 4 hours and 50 minutes before the Sun – and reach an altitude of 40° above the south-eastern horizon before fading from view as dawn breaks at around 05:22.

The Moon will be at mag -12.0, and Neptune at mag 7.9, both in the constellation Aquarius.

The pair will be a little too widely separated to fit comfortably within the field of view of a telescope, but will be visible through a pair of binoculars.
