From South El Monte , NGC542 is visible in the evening sky, becoming accessible around 19:09 (PDT), 28° above your north-eastern horizon, as dusk fades to darkness. It will then reach its highest point in the sky at 00:18, 89° above your northern horizon. It will continue to be observable until around 05:59, when it sinks below 21° above your north-western horizon.
