Conjunction of the Moon and Saturn

The Moon and Saturn will share the same right ascension, with the Moon passing 51' to the south of Saturn. The Moon will be 2 days old.

At around the same time, the two objects will also make a close approach, technically called an appulse.

From Fairfield , the pair will be difficult to observe as they will appear no higher than 11° above the horizon. They will become visible at around 19:15 (EST), 11° above your south-western horizon, as dusk fades to darkness. They will then sink towards the horizon, setting 1 hour and 46 minutes after the Sun at 20:28.

The Moon will be at mag -10.4, and Saturn at mag 0.5, both in the constellation Libra.

The pair will be a little too widely separated to fit comfortably within the field of view of a telescope, but will be visible to the naked eye or through a pair of binoculars.
