Conjunction of Mercury and Neptune

Mercury and Neptune will share the same right ascension, with Mercury passing 1°41' to the south of Neptune.

From Newark however, the pair will not be observable – they will reach their highest point in the sky during daytime and will be 3° below the horizon at dawn.

Mercury will be at mag 0.4, and Neptune at mag 7.9, both in the constellation Pisces.

The pair will be too widely separated to fit within the field of view of a telescope, but will be visible through a pair of binoculars.
