Mars and 136199 Eris will share the same right ascension, with Mars passing 44' to the south of 136199 Eris.

From South El Monte , the pair will be visible in the dawn sky, rising at 00:42 (PDT) and reaching an altitude of 47° above the eastern horizon before fading from view as dawn breaks at around 04:39.

Mars will be at mag 0.2, and 136199 Eris at mag 18.4, both in the constellation Aries.

The pair will be a little too widely separated to fit comfortably within the field of view of a telescope, but will be visible through a pair of binoculars.
