Conjunction of the Moon and Jupiter

The Moon and Jupiter will share the same right ascension, with the Moon passing 26' to the north of Jupiter. The Moon will be 13 days old.

At around the same time, the two objects will also make a close approach, technically called an appulse.

From Cambridge , the pair will be visible in the evening sky, becoming accessible around 19:24 (EST), 32° above your eastern horizon, as dusk fades to darkness. They will then reach their highest point in the sky at 22:56, 55° above your southern horizon. They will continue to be observable until around 04:40, when they sink below 7° above your western horizon.

The Moon will be at mag -12.7, and Jupiter at mag -2.4, both in the constellation Leo.

The pair will be close enough to fit within the field of view of a telescope, but will also be visible to the naked eye or through a pair of binoculars.
