Mars and 134340 Pluto will share the same right ascension, with Mars passing 4°01' to the north of 134340 Pluto.

From South El Monte , the pair will be visible in the dawn sky, rising at 01:20 (PDT) and reaching an altitude of 47° above the eastern horizon before fading from view as dawn breaks at around 05:18.

Mars will be at mag 1.0, and 134340 Pluto at mag 16.0, both in the constellation Gemini.

The pair will be too widely separated to fit within the field of view of a telescope, but will be visible through a pair of binoculars.
