Conjunction of the Moon and Venus

The Moon and Venus will share the same right ascension, with the Moon passing 21' to the north of Venus. The Moon will be 27 days old.

At around the same time, the two objects will also make a close approach, technically called an appulse.

From Jacksonville , the pair will be visible in the dawn sky, rising at 04:18 (EDT) – 2 hours and 36 minutes before the Sun – and reaching an altitude of 25° above the south-eastern horizon before fading from view as dawn breaks at around 06:39.

The Moon will be at mag -10.7, and Venus at mag -4.6, both in the constellation Sagittarius.

The pair will be close enough to fit within the field of view of a telescope, but will also be visible to the naked eye or through a pair of binoculars.
