Conjunction of Saturn and Mars

Saturn and Mars will share the same right ascension, with Saturn passing 58' to the south of Mars.

At around the same time, the two objects will also make a close approach, technically called an appulse.

From South El Monte , the pair will be visible in the dawn sky, rising at 02:16 (PDT) – 3 hours and 18 minutes before the Sun – and reaching an altitude of 32° above the eastern horizon before fading from view as dawn breaks at around 04:56.

Saturn will be at mag 0.4, and Mars at mag 0.8, both in the constellation Pisces.

The pair will be a little too widely separated to fit comfortably within the field of view of a telescope, but will be visible to the naked eye or through a pair of binoculars.
