The Theta Carinae open star cluster (IC 2602, also known as the Southern Pleiades; mag 1.9) will be well placed in the evening sky in coming weeks. On 3 March it will reach its highest point in the sky at around midnight local time, and on subsequent evenings it will culminate four minutes earlier each day.

From Brasília , it is visible all night. It will become visible at around 19:11 (GMT-03), 21° above your south-eastern horizon, as dusk fades to darkness. It will then reach its highest point in the sky at 00:10, 41° above your southern horizon. It will be lost to dawn twilight at around 05:32, 18° above your south-western horizon.

At a declination of 64°23'S, it is easiest to see from the southern hemisphere but cannot be seen from latitudes much north of 5°N.
