Jupiter and Mercury will share the same right ascension, with Jupiter passing 2°14' to the south of Mercury.

From South El Monte , the pair will be difficult to observe as they will appear no higher than 12° above the horizon. They will become visible at around 20:28 (PDT), 12° above your western horizon, as dusk fades to darkness. They will then sink towards the horizon, setting 1 hour and 36 minutes after the Sun at 21:37.

Jupiter will be at mag -1.9, and Mercury at mag -0.2, both in the constellation Gemini.

The pair will be too widely separated to fit within the field of view of a telescope, but will be visible to the naked eye or through a pair of binoculars.
