Conjunction of the Moon and Venus

The Moon and Venus will share the same right ascension, with the Moon passing 16' to the south of Venus. The Moon will be 28 days old.

At around the same time, the two objects will also make a close approach, technically called an appulse.

From Fairfield , the pair will be visible in the dawn sky, rising at 03:46 (EST) – 1 hour and 35 minutes before the Sun – and reaching an altitude of 12° above the eastern horizon before fading from view as dawn breaks at around 05:01.

The Moon will be at mag -9.2, and Venus at mag -3.9, both in the constellation Taurus.

The pair will be close enough to fit within the field of view of a telescope, but will also be visible to the naked eye or through a pair of binoculars.
