1 Ceres and 136199 Eris will share the same right ascension, with 1 Ceres passing 2°41' to the south of 136199 Eris.

From Fairfield , the pair will be visible in the dawn sky, rising at 01:10 (EDT) and reaching an altitude of 31° above the south-eastern horizon before fading from view as dawn breaks at around 04:05.
